Le Petit Chien

Isn't it funny how you start out with an idea about something, and then you sit down to figure the idea out properly and then it turns into something else completely(ish)?

Anyway, this morning I sat down to draw a really simple red outline of a sausage dog, with the possibility of it being a pillowcase cover (the pooch pillowcase cover contines...this is not the first or second but third). And then it turns into a non-red, two colour, non-outline Frenchy pooch. Anyway, not sure if this will turn into a real pillowcase cover, due to boring technical issues to do with high thread count & bleeding paint, but we'll see. Maybe a cushion cover?

Oh, and the idea is dedicated to Oscar the miniature Dachshund I met in the park the other day. He's pretty much the cutest thing I've ever seen, actually, and reinforces the fact that I *really* need a miniature Dachshund. One day...

Winter mushrooms

I've never been a mushroom eater but have recently discovered how good they are when fried up in a pan with a bit of butter. And have had this idea of a pattern in my head for a while now, which I finally got to sit down and start playing around with today.

Winter Mushrooms.

Printing with Moo is so much fun!

Some of my illustrations on postcards, in various colours. And you'll get one if you order something via one of my shops!

Doodling

It surely is getting cold and for me at the moment that means lots of hand-warming cups of tea and a bit of drawing, along with quick trips outside to catch up on some dwindling sun. It's amazing how quickly a day goes by when you've got these three things to do.

..and a...

It's still a day or two off, but getting in early as I'm off on a wee short holiday to the hills. Hope the new year is good to you, and thanks for dropping by this year :)

Merry Festiveness

Can hardly believe how quickly it has all happened this year - in fact, the last few weeks are a bit of a blur. And here we are. Soon it'll be time for new year's resolutions and planning for 2009 but for now, it's time to stop. And time to eat. Eat a lot.

Now I just have to wrap some (OK, all) the gifts I'm giving, and finish off some of the handmade ones. If only I was as organised as Fiona, and had a batch of these waiting to be eaten. But I did manage to whip up more than one batch of shortbread, most of which has already been eaten or given away.

Scissor Love

It's been nearly 2 weeks since my last post - whew, time flies. If you've been here before you might notice that this blog looks a bit different - redesigning and such things have been on the cards recently. And not much making. But have been doing some drawing - these are my scissors. I love scissors, can you tell?

Leaves

A lovely spring day leads to more drawing, this time leaves.

Trees & leaves & more pink & grey

I have things that I should be doing right now, but they'll have to wait as these leaves & trees needed to be drawn and coloured.

And have been working on some new fabric designs. These are some test prints (and lame low-light photos!)

Pink & Grey

The rain drops/water obsession continues. Today it's combined with a pink & grey infatuation. Selfishly hope it's not actually raining as I'm looking forward to a stroll around the park followed by strong coffee.

Drawin'

Have been drawing today, for it is most definitely too cold and wet to go outside. In the process I have had, I believe, four cups of Earl Grey tea. I think I'm obsessed with tea. Am somewhat obsessed by combs, too. Can you tell?

Brrr it's still winter

And so cold outside (well, cold for Melbourne) - the temp is about 9 degrees celsius but with wind it feels like about -9. And the patchy rain isn't helping. So I'm making leaf patterns - a perfect winter activity. And finally changing the header of this blog (and tweaking various things) which I've been meaning to do forever.

Fortunately the rest of the day will be spent watching films, thanks for keeping me entertained MIFF.

It's raining today

It doesn't rain that much here in Melbourne, and when it does I seem to want/have to make little illustrations inspired by the rain. I can't really explain it...perhaps it's something to do with being a Pisces. This pic includes apple pips (can you tell?), something I was thinking of using for a pattern to screenprint.

Autumn Tree

Have been addicted to knitting lately, and have completed one scarf, and another is 1/3 complete. Think the addiction has something to do with the chilly autumnal weather, which inspired the collage tree below. There are so many great coloured leaves around, I can't stop collecting them (another addiction).

OK, time to wake up ... here I come, coffee.
