Mysterious!

Just took a night-time kitchen table photo of my new tea towel, using my phone camera. And it doesn't look too bad, all things considered. But what is it? More will be revealed when it's daylight and I can get a better photo. For now, this is all I gots.

Quotes in colours

And here are the coloured versions of my new 'Quotes' tea towel! Lots of umming and ahhing and mixing and testing took place before these colours were decided upon. Looove the muted feel of avocado green & grey combination (suits today's weather in Melbourne, along with the record floodings and massive hail) and the brightness of the 1950s blue/red combo.

Now time to don the gumboots and brave the weather - fun!

Quotes in my head

It seems like foreeever since I've had time/inspiration etc to do something new, but last week I just sat down with my trusty notebook and drew one of the ideas in my head. A day or so later, I made up a new screen for it and did some printing...and then a week later, I get around to taking a photo of it! So ta-da, here's my new tea towel, called Quotes. It kind of sums up what goes on in my head sometimes - a million ideas and thoughts flying around - I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

This first run is a lovely contrasty white on natural linen (my favourite new thing! And they're extra large!!) I've just put it in my Etsy shop and soon there will be coloured varieties, yay. And if you look closely you can see my new logo, which I'm yet to actually use anywhere else but on my new packaging. I'll surely show it here sometime soon :)

Happy Thursday.

PS. Also just put the new T Towel on Etsy - white on natural linen, mmm!

Tea Towel Two Packs

I've added some "tea towel two packs" to my Etsy shop, which are available at a bit of a discount price. As an added bonus, shipping for two is the same as shipping for one, so there's a saving there too. I might add some more combinations soon but for now there's a 'T' Towel in Charcoal + Enka in Red and Cyan (above) and a two pack of Enka in each of two colourways (below).

Leaves Tea Towel Ready

There seems to be a posting frenzy here - lots of things ready at the same time. Now, after a preview such a long time ago, it's my latest tea towel that is ready. The original was in a hazelnut/blue combination but after a rethink, it's gone bright and quite red (with a splash of baby blue). In my Etsy shop now.

Craziness

Yep, two posts in one day, when I barely fit in one per week usually.

These are some random shots of things from this morning - pears (so beautiful) and a drawing done while waiting for lunch.

And here is a sneak-peak of a new tea towel design I'm working on. Not sure about the colours yet, but I do love leaves.

Finally, my new 'T' Towel is available in the shop. For those fellow type-mad folks out there, it's a chance to get your fix while also doing house work - perfect! As mentioned before, it features my hand-drawn rendering of various letter Ts, including Garamond, Hoefler, Kevlar, Mrs Eaves and Caslon. The first run is a charcoal (very dark grey) on crisp, 100% linen. Enjoy :)

The 'T' Towel

What's that you see? Well, that would be my new tea towel design, which is finally ready. Woot! Appropriately, it's called the 'T Towel'.

It's inspired by - not surprisingly - the letter T, and features my hand-drawn renderings of various Ts, including Garamond, Hoefler, Kevlar, Mrs Eaves and Caslon. At the moment it comes in black on crisp, white linen and will be in the shop soon.

Firsts

Today I had my first nectarine of the season - so good! And in even more exciting firsts news, my first market stall is coming up, and very soon. It's at Craft Hatch market (organised by Craft Victoria), will be at the City Library in Melbourne and is on this Saturday. Yes, it's another market, but has a special focus - it's described by CV as "an incubator market for student and emerging craft designers." This Saturday's market is the first of three for the summer.

I've been madly running around in the last week or so trying to get things sorted, and it's coming together, I think. The packaging part can take almost as much organising/time as the actual things you're selling, but is fun to do and makes such a big difference in getting things looking 'together' and 'proper'. Still not quite sure how I'll fix the stall/display up but have been gathering props and ideas and have my fingers crossed it'll all sort out.

And here are some of the things I'll be selling - yes, that's a line-up of tea towels.

And here are the details:

Craft Hatch market
@ City Library, 253 Flinders Lane Melbourne
Saturday 8th November
11am - 4pm

If you're in the area drop by and say hi :)

Tomato Love

It's well and truly spring here in Melbourne and with daylight saving starting last weekend, there's a different feeling in the air. And so walking through the CERES nursery, the tomato seedlings looked so inviting I just couldn't resist buying a couple. I live in hope that they'll prosper in pots on our balcony, without quite as much sun as they need.

I fall for the same trick each year, and think "Oh well, next year I'll have a backyard to plant tomatoes in. Maybe." You see, my boyfriend and I never planned living in our apartment for as long as we have, but time just slips by and here we are nearly four years later.

So hopefully they make it though the rough transition from small tub to pot, and hey, maybe in a few months we'll have lovely San Marzano tomatoes everywhere.

And speaking of spring things, there's now a second colourway in my new Enka Tea Towels - a spring-inspired red and pink.

Tea Towel Love

I have a bit of a thing for tea towels. There are way too many in the kitchen drawer, and yet I always seem to be acquiring more. And when the Craft City Melbourne girls blogged about the CWA's collection at the Royal Melbourne Show, I was reminded of my tea towel love.

And now I've got some of my own. Yep, my first batch of tea towels. All done. OK, it's a small batch and in just the one colourway to begin with - a lovely charcoal & cyan combination - but I'm pretty excited. And I can already feel that a bigger batch in a pink & red colourway in the works.... And they're for sale in my (new & small) Etsy shop, if you'd like to go look.

New & old

Elephant #32

Elephant #33

These are made with lovely Aunty Cookie fabric & polka dot ears (top) and delightful Lotta Jansdotta fabric (bottom) and I don't think they're going anywhere in a hurry as I want to keep them!

Now I need to get onto some orders, to be made with recent purchases from Patchwork on Central Park, just about the best shop ever.

And I recently found this tea towel I made, stashed away with a heap of other stuff. It serves as a good reminder that
I need to get on to doing more screen printing. It's messy, yes, and things go wrong, yes, but it's darn fun. Now just need to find some good cotton, non-drill &/or linen fabric to print onto - no easy task, I'm sure, based on previous searches.
