New stuff

Oh, and some new things are now in my Etsy shop...

Three new cushion covers - Charcoal 'Trees' on Natural Linen, Two-Tone 'Trees' and Royal Blue 'Graph Paper'.

Some gift cards, all blank - Seasons Greetings and Apples in Blue and Red (on craft or recycled white card).

AND some lavender bags, which I've not made for a while, this time using my Graph Paper fabric.

Some new stuff

Have just put some new things in le Etsy shop...plush cushion covers in two styles and hemp/organic cotton tea towel packs - a polka dot 2-pack or a polka dots & letters 2-pack.

And here are some things you might not know about hemp, more reasons why it's such a great fabric:
  • It is very absorbent and has a natural antiseptic character
  • It also holds its shape and does not fade in the sun
  • When blended with organic cotton, the fabric gains strength & elasticity and is extra soft

I noticed Etsy seems to have had its layout tweaked again - every time I look, something's been moved around. This time, each seller's main shop page has been tweaked to fit four items across the width and it looks great, go Etsy peeps.

OK, now time for some book shopping and weekend-planning. Happy Friday!

It's...the Tree Towel!

Tree Towel in two-tone green

OK, so my new design, The Tree Towel, is ready, yay! It is inspired by my recent travels in Sweden, can you tell? Sometimes new things seem to take forever to get from idea to object...in fact I got so impatient this time that I've already got another design figured out, all before this one was even released. But more about that later.

As I was so excited about The Tree Towel, I created a little flyer for it -

And of course, the towel's available in my Etsy shop now, in two colourways - two-tone green and chocolate brown and pink.Speaking of fliers, if you buy any of my tea towels or fabric goods, you'll also get a cute little sheet explaining more about the fabric - linen or hemp/organic cotton. For example, did you know that linen absorbs 20% or more of its weight in water and is bacteria resistant & can’t provoke allergies? Or that the hemp plant grows rapidly, requires only a modest amount of water and needs no pesticides, herbicides or fungicides? Well you do now :)

Happy Friday.

New Stuff

OK, so it's a crazy busy time of year, yes. But I'm taking out five minutes to say hello to my blog as it's been a while and I miss it!

So what's been going on? Last week (or was it the week before?) I dropped off some goodies to my latest stockists, the most lovely southwoodtrading in South Melbourne and Southwoodhome in North Fitzroy. The stores are so great but of course, forgot to take a snap inside! Below is a snap of the outside of the (original) North Fitzroy store, which is a bit like a house with different rooms set up. The newer South Melbourne store (opened only a couple of months ago) is more of an open showroom full of too many lovely things to mention.

In other news, I've finally got a photo or two of the new T Towel in Red! It was an idea suggested by a stockist (Catherine from Southwood, now I think about it) and what a great idea it was - has been very popular at the last few markets I've been to. I've also just put a couple in my Made It and Etsy shops, along with some screen printed gift tags (on recycled card) with Italian cotton string and some fabric mix packs - finally - and lavender bags!

Fabric is in the shop!

I've put some of the new fabric in my Etsy shop, woot! The shop's been a bit neglected lately, so have put a few other goodies in there - hello fabric covered buttons, in a range of colours. So go crazy and make something - you know you want to :)

*UPDATE* Have also put some new Elephants & limited edition tea towels in the shop, which is neglected no more. In fact, it's probably never been so full and even goes to more than one page - wow!

Speaking of shops, how gorgeous is this one?

Photo courtesy of The Design Files

I saw the postcard for Ramona Tienda, a new shop in North Melbourne, at a cafe in Kensington and just knew I'd love it. And I do - it's so sweet, with a select range of lovely items. And thanks to Lucy's post on The Design Files, I now know part of the reason why - as well as being super talented in her own right, Ramona used to work at Wilkins and Kent (lovely furniture and gifty things *swoon*) and the parallels in style between the shops certainly shines through. It seems like there are more and more great shops being set up around town, I love it.

Tea Towel Two Packs

I've added some "tea towel two packs" to my Etsy shop, which are available at a bit of a discount price. As an added bonus, shipping for two is the same as shipping for one, so there's a saving there too. I might add some more combinations soon but for now there's a 'T' Towel in Charcoal + Enka in Red and Cyan (above) and a two pack of Enka in each of two colourways (below).

Return of the dog

A while back I made a dog cushion/pillow, screen-printed with the outline of a certain dog I know (she's not a sausage dog, she's just long and low.) The dog it was made for loved it and so I decided to make some more - now in my Etsy shop. This one's charcoal ink on sand coloured mid-weight cotton drill, with other colours coming. And maybe I'll make some that are on people's pillow case covers...I quite like the idea of dogs being everywhere.

Coffee inspiration

Mmm, coffee is my inspiration today. Especially when it comes in a faux paper coffee cup that's actually ceramic. It's my new favourite thing. And even though it's not actually mine, I've used it so much lately that it might as well be. So simple yet so beautiful, particularly because of its imperfections.

As mentioned the other day, elephants were in the making, and now they're all done! And finally had the chance to put them up on Etsy, so the shop is fully stocked, finally.

And very excited to see that the doco Handmade Nation will soon be screening in Melbourne, and for free! Go Stitches and Craft Show, you rock.

Etsy tea towel love

So happy to see this article on Etsy's Storque blog - a feature on Etsy tea towel sellers! There are so many beautiful towels - craziness - and I'm so glad to be included. And no, that's not me above but the brief we were given was to provide a photo of you and your products - eeek. That part was hard. Thanks to Elizabeth of flyingrhymes for organising it :)

Tea Towel Love

I have a bit of a thing for tea towels. There are way too many in the kitchen drawer, and yet I always seem to be acquiring more. And when the Craft City Melbourne girls blogged about the CWA's collection at the Royal Melbourne Show, I was reminded of my tea towel love.

And now I've got some of my own. Yep, my first batch of tea towels. All done. OK, it's a small batch and in just the one colourway to begin with - a lovely charcoal & cyan combination - but I'm pretty excited. And I can already feel that a bigger batch in a pink & red colourway in the works.... And they're for sale in my (new & small) Etsy shop, if you'd like to go look.

It's a shop!

Finally, finally I've put together a wee lil' Etsy shop. It's modest at the moment as this is just the beginning, but you've got to start somewhere!

It's now stocked with a range of super cute elephants made from handmade, hand screen-printed fabric - go on, have a look!
